What is the What

Up to Page 86
I figured I'd write up to what page number I've read so we don't end up giving a part of the story away to each other while writing. I was just thinking about how crazy life is. You are born into this way of life depending on where you are in the world. And it's amazing how basic emotions and actions in life are the same no matter what material things you have or what your financial status may be. This can be seen when Achak is trying to impress the older girl by getting her water and he thinks if he runs fast enough she will be impressed.

I've also been thinking about how no one knows where life will take them. When Achak was a little boy he never imagined he'd be living in the states one day being robbed. I love the symbolism when TV Boy tries to squish him like a bug with a phone book.

The last line I just read was when Achak was running with his mother and she tells him that she is so sorry but they aren't going to make it through the day. Could you imagine hearing those words from your mother, or being a mother and realizing you've just had to say those words to your son?
